DeBordieu Summertime

BEACH TIME!

Summer has come to DeBordieu with all the wonderful things that go along with it. Perhaps the most important part for families and friends, however, are the memories that last long after the summer is over. How often when we are back home do we say to our families: "Do you remember that day at DeBordieu when......?"

So enjoy all we have to offer, share wonderful times with those you love, and always cherish those memories that will last forever....Geoff

Spring has Sprung! Spring is in the air and no place more evident than here at DeBordieu! The Azaleas are in full bloom, the weather is superb, and families from near and far are having a great time. Young and old alike are enjoying everything from walks on the beach (the water IS a little chilly), to golf, tennis, and the creek. Speaking of the creek, for those of you who love to fish, the Redfish are on the move, and as water temperatures increase so will the activity. The next month or so will mark some major changes as the fish transition from their winter schools and spread out within the Inlet. The Market's Heating Up! The real estate market is showing signs of improvement and the lovely home below is a prime example of properties presently available. Click on the picture for details and a virtual tour. I would encourage you to peruse the DeBordieu website at http://www.debordieu.com/ to keep abreast of activity within the community. It goes without saying, that any assistance you might desire on any aspect of the community, I am most happy to provide. My best until next time. DeBordieu: A Waterfowler and Birdwatchers Dream

KEEPING THEM HAPPY DOWN ON THE POND!

Each winter DeBordieu receives thousands of visitors in the form of migratory waterfowl coming south from their Artic breeding grounds. This year has been no exception and we have been blessed with an extraordinary number of ducks and geese feeding and roosting on Bridge Pond. Careful management and the growth of native food sources, particularly Widgeon Grass, has encouraged these waterfowl to spend the winter with us in our Sanctuary Pond. So far this year we have counted over 14 species of ducks enjoying themselves feeding on the grasses and having the extra treat of lots of sweet corn.

The Waterfowl Observation Blind, located on Bridge Pond off Luvan Blvd., has become an extremely popular daily destination for DeBordieu residents to come and enjoy viewing the waterfowl as well as educating themselves and their families about different species of ducks.
Ducks Unlimited has supplied us with identification pamphlets to assist in that endeavor. If you have not yet taken advantage of this community asset, there is still plenty of wintertime ahead and the waterfowl should remain with us for another six weeks or so. It is particularly exciting to visit the blind in the late afternoon (with a warm drink if the day is blustery) to watch the ducks zoom in and out for their last feed of the day, but any time of the day will provide a great experience.

Please feel free to call me if you would like any more information about the work we have been doing to ensure the future of waterfowl within DeBordieu.

What glorious weather we have been having at DeBordieu for the past few weeks! For those who have not taken the opportunity to be here in their homes or to visit friends or family, DON'T TARRY. The beach looks spectacular and the marsh is vibrant with life as the Fall migrations have begun. If you have not been in the creek recently, take a look at the short clip I have attached......Real estate opportunities are certainly here and our web site will show the varying types, locations, and prices.

DEBORDIEU BEACH SWEEP 2010

Saturday, September 18th, was the day of the annual DeBordieu Beach Sweep. Done in conjunction with the Ocean Conservancy, we had a grand turnout of over 40 volunteers like Tate Bowers (above) who scoured the DeBordieu beach from Prince George all the way to to the tip at North Inlet, encompassing some 4 1/2 miles. Obviously, it's not all hard work! Our beach stays in very pristine condition because of the pride our owners have in caring for it; however, the ocean does deposit materials we need to deal with. The attached photo shows some of the debris collected that afternoon. Beach Sweep is just one of the many Community projects that take place each year, and is just one more example of why DeBordieu remains such a very special place. THANKS AGAIN to all those who partook in this worthwhile cause.

Summer is here!!

DeBordieu has come to life with friends and families galore enjoying the beauty and all the recreational opportunities the community has to offer. The weather is warm, the beach is beautiful, the golf course has never looked better, and as you can see from the pictures, the Redfish are tailing on the flats.
Now is a great time to come and visit and see what makes DeBordieu such a special and wonderful place. For almost 40 years, DeBordieu has set the standard for what a non resort beach community is all about. Opportunities abound for those who desire the very best.

Boy, is Spring ever here and this year it came in a firestorm of pollen and beautiful weather. It's hard to believe it is Easter again, but one drive through DeBordieu seeing all the families with children and friends make it abundantly clear that the season has begun.

Real estate is beginning to reflect the general feeling that markets are improving, as we have had a marked increase in calls, web site hits, and walk-ins. Price points remain generally conservative, but they too are beginning to make a move. There are some wonderful new listings and the Joyce and Coffee villas at Colony Club are two great examples. During the next few days I will continue to highlight listed properties within DeBordieu to keep you informed. As always, I am available at any time should there be questions or if you need assistance.
