Pawleys Island Wine Gala

Sample nearly 70 wines from renowned vineyards around the world and enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres at the 13th Annual Pawleys Island Wine Gala. A fund raiser for the Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art, the evening will also include a three hour dessert tasting provided by Pawleys Island Bakery, cordial tasting, a silent auction full of wonderful trips, live entertainment, a complimentary wine glass and valet parking. Wines will be available for purchase at prices well below retail during this special event.

The event is being held at the Reserve Golf Club of Pawleys Island. Tickets are available for $100, the dress is casual cocktail attire.

Attention Wine Connoisseurs: New for 2012, The Collector’s Circle

During this year’s Wine Gala, those guests who choose to join the Collector’s Circle will have the opportunity to taste some very special, select, limited production wines. The Collector’s Circle wine pouring will be going on simultaneously with the Wine Gala. Members of the Collector’s Circle will be able to go from one event to the other throughout the evening.

$150 each will include admission to the 13th Annual Pawley’s Island Wine Gala as well as the Collector’s Circle Private Tasting. Tickets are limited and are available by calling the Festival office at 843-626-8911.

The Collector’s Circle will feature several unusual, hard-to-find, and rare wines.

SURE SIGN OF SPRING!

Late Spring at DeBordieu and signs of renewal and evolution abound. Nowhere in the community is this more evident than on our beach as the Loggerhead turtles begin their annual migration back to their birthplace to begin the cycle of life over again. We are so blessed to be here to witness this each year and marvel at the site. We are only a blink of an eye in the scheme of things, but we are always grateful for the moment.

WHERE'S WINTER?

Thanksgiving and Christmas came and went in a flash this year and now here we are suffering through the throes of our terrible winter weather.....Well, not really. For the most part, DeBordieu has been blessed with mild temperatures and sunny skies. This has made the outdoor activities we all enjoy even better than usual. The golf course is playing beautifully, the creek is teeming with hungry fish, the tennis courts look great, and as always, the beach and our nature trail are perfect for that early morning stroll. If you have been holding back from making a trip to be here for a few days, wait no longer. I can't promise what the next month will bring, but if it's anything like January, you will be glad you came. By the way, the creek dredging is completed, they did a fabulous job, so access in and out of the boat landing regardless of the tide is no longer an issue. Thanks DCCA......

THERE IS SO MUCH NEWS!

What a busy few weeks we have had at DeBordieu!

Irene came blasting along the coast and gave us some pretty dramatic wind and rain, but thankfully no serious damage...... The Long Range Planning Committee/Beach Committee has continued to work diligently, and after several community forums, has presented its proposal for the beach renourishment project. Most of us realize the benefits a healthy beach continues to have for our oceanfront community regardless of where one resides within DeBordieu. The proposal will be put to vote for the membership very shortly.....labor Day weekend is winding down and thus the active summer season is on the wane. It has been a wonderful summer here "at the beach" and it has been very gratifying to see so many of our owners, their families, and their friends, enjoying all this lovely community has to offer.

We must all remember how much fun it is to be at DeBordieu in the Fall with the great weather and multiple events taking place throughout the area. One of the major attractions is the PAWLEYS ISLAND FESTIVAL OF MUSIC AND ART In its 21st season, the festival begins its three week run on Sunday September 18th. Also, reports are coming in that the golf course is in great shape and the break in the weather is encouraging all aspects of its condition. All golfers need to make some time to be here and take advantage of this time of the year.

With the cooling weather, the Fall fishing is beginning to pick up. The annual migration of Tarpon as they work their way South will soon begin, and along with that will be wonderful inshore fishing for all our favorite species. For those who love the creek, its beauty, and its adventures, the next few months will truly be a delight! Get your family, a child or grandchild, or a bunch of buddies, and come enjoy one of the most beautiful places in America!

DeBordieu 4th of July does it again!

Every year we all look forward to the festivities surrounding the 4th of July and this year was no exception. Owners and friends turned out in record numbers for the annual parade and the numerous events taking place within the community over the extended weekend. Thanks to all for making the parade such a success again, thanks to the Club for all the hard work the staff put in to entertain, feed, and keep the libations coming, and thanks to the DCCA for a truly memorable fireworks display. The weekend could not have been better.
